Space Oddity, The Planets & Rocket Man
Arrangement preview
An opener medley of David Bowie's Space Oddity, Gustav Holst's The Planets and Elton John's Rocket Man, arranged for marching band by Brighton Barrineau and Trevor Schachner, 1:22 at grade 3 to 4, written for Swansea High School's 2021 space show. In eighty-two seconds it introduces all three of the show's sources: the Bowie countdown as the opening gesture, a Holst quotation in the brass, and the Rocket Man hook as the first full-band statement. That is the job of a medley opener, to tell the audience what the show is about before the first movement proper, and it was followed by Space Oddity, Paranoid Android with Jupiter, and Rocket Man in the same book. It opens any space show and pairs with the Jupiter and Mars arrangements in Pale Blue Dot. Audio of the full arrangement is on this page. Available on its own or in a build-your-own show; licensing goes through Tresona and is paid by the school.

Every arrangement here is available on its own. Combine it with arrangements from other shows, or add it to a show where we write a few new pieces for your band. Pricing depends on what you need, so we'll work it out together.
