Space Oddity
Arrangement preview
David Bowie's Space Oddity, arranged for marching band by Brighton Barrineau and Trevor Schachner, 1:59 at grade 3 to 4, written as the ballad of Swansea High School's 2021 space show. The song's acoustic verse becomes a woodwind and mallet texture, the "ground control" exchange is a call-and-response between sections, and the chorus opens into the full band. It is a ballad with a story the audience already knows, which makes it easy to stage: a soloist as Major Tom, the band as the ground. Space Oddity sat between the opener medley and Paranoid Android with Jupiter in the original show, and it is the ballad for any space show that wants a pop melody. Audio of the full arrangement is on this page. Available on its own or in a build-your-own show; licensing goes through Tresona and is paid by the school.

Every arrangement here is available on its own. Combine it with arrangements from other shows, or add it to a show where we write a few new pieces for your band. Pricing depends on what you need, so we'll work it out together.
