Paranoid Android & Jupiter
Arrangement preview
Radiohead's Paranoid Android with the Jupiter theme from Holst's The Planets, arranged for marching band by Brighton Barrineau and Trevor Schachner, 2:20 at grade 3 to 4, written as the third movement of Swansea High School's 2021 space show. The Radiohead material gives the band its most aggressive two minutes, and the Holst hymn arrives inside it as the resolution, the big tune the whole stadium knows. Putting the two together is the point: a modern, unsettled piece resolved by a classical one. It followed Space Oddity and led into Rocket Man in the original book. Jupiter is public domain; Paranoid Android needs a licence. Audio of the full arrangement is on this page. Available on its own or in a build-your-own show; licensing goes through Tresona and is paid by the school.
